Our Research & Ratings Methodology

This page provides a detailed, transparent overview of how LuxMyx evaluates brands and generates the LM Trust Score and supporting indicators (Stars, Crowns, and Laurel Leaves). It is intended for readers who want a deeper understanding of our data sources, weighting system, and verification standards.

Our Evaluation Structure

Every brand is analyzed using a three-pillar system:

Pillar 1 — From the Brand (35%)

Each brand also receives three supporting visuals that help you understand where a brand excels.

Quality Rating

We review all publicly available information directly provided by the brand, including:

  • Sustainability and ESG reports
  • Manufacturing transparency statements
  • Policies on labor, sourcing, and materials
  • Climate goals and progress updates
  • Repair & care programs
  • End-of-life and circularity initiatives

We evaluate brand claims on clarity, specificity, consistency, and evidence. Generalized or vague statements are scored lower.

Pillar 2 — Verified by Experts (45%)

This pillar captures all available third-party verification. It is the strongest indicator in our scoring model.

We validate brand claims through:

  • Certification databases (e.g., LWG, GOTS, OEKO-TEX, Bluesign, RWS/RDS, Fair Trade)
  • Supplier and manufacturing audits
  • Regulatory or NGO reports
  • Material science documentation
  • Traceability platforms
  • Verified environmental and labor data

Community signals help determine how a brand’s products perform over time.

Pillar 3 — Community (20%)

This pillar captures real-world performance beyond marketing:

  • Resale platform data (retention, demand, depreciation)
  • Repair insights from specialists
  • Long-term consumer sentiment (moderated for bias)
  • Expert commentary from restorers and authenticators

Verification Availability Adjustment (VAA)

Independent verification varies across the industry, especially for emerging or artisan brands. To maintain fairness, LuxMyx applies a structured adjustment when verification is limited.

If meaningful third-party verification is limited:

  • Verified by Experts: drops from 45% to 35%
  • From the Brand: increases from 35% to 40%
  • Community: increases from 20% to 25%

This ensures smaller brands are not unfairly penalized while preserving the integrity of the scoring framework.

If verification is available: Normal weighting applies (45/35/20). This mechanism is always noted on the brand’s internal scoring record for auditability.

Scoring & Review Process

  • Step 1: Data Collection — Researchers gather brand disclosures, certifications, supplier details, audit data, and community indicators.
  • Step 2: Claim Validation — All claims are cross-referenced against available third-party sources.
  • Step 3: Analysis — Each pillar is scored using standardized criteria.
  • Step 4: Weighted Blending — Pillar scores are combined into the LM Trust Score and supporting visual indicators.
  • Step 5: Internal Review — A second researcher validates the information before publication.
  • Step 6: Continuous Updating — Scores are reviewed periodically as new information becomes available.

    Independence Statement

LuxMyx operates editorially independent from its commercial partnerships. Brands cannot purchase placement, higher ratings, or guaranteed inclusion. Affiliate relationships, when present, do not influence scoring.

    Ongoing Updates

Brand information evolves. Certifications lapse. New data becomes available. To maintain accuracy, LuxMyx:

    • Reviews each brand’s page periodically
    • Updates scores when new information emerges
    • Clearly displays “Last Verified” dates
    • Revises methodology annually as the industry evolves

    Dispute & Audit Process

Brands may submit evidence if they believe a rating is factually inaccurate. We review, validate, and update as appropriate, typically within 30 days of submission. Revisions are logged internally for accountability.

    Update Cadence

Brand pages are reviewed on a rolling basis. Each page includes a “Last Verified” timestamp reflecting the latest completed review.
